Harden's Review - Best indian food in Scotland

Award winning Indian restaurants in Glasgow and Edinburgh - Scotland

Since arriving on the Scottish scene in 1990 with it’s commitment to Homestyle ‘Desi’ Cuisine the name Mother India has become synonymous with quality Indian Sub-continental food. This has been achieved by our commitment to using the best local produce, fresh herbs and carefully selected whole spices. It is also in no small measure down to you, the customer. From day one till now your support has been crucial, it has allowed us to dream.

Mothers India’s Café with its ‘twist’ on tapas was our next ‘vision’. With the original outlet in Glasgow and its recently opened sister restaurant in Edinburgh, this ‘way of eating’ encourages relaxed, informal, friendly dining and lets you try a little and taste a lot.

The latest arrival in the family is Dining in with Mother India which has just opened in Bearsden, a delicatessen which brings you even closer to the Mother India way of thinking and eating …in your own home or office.

We hope you find the website useful. Thanks for all your support.

Mother India's Cafe - Edinburgh

Mother India

Opened in May 2008, Mother India's Café in Edinburgh offers a "twist on tapas".

Our "twist on tapas" has rapidly become a firm favourite with both locals and visitors to Scotland's Capital. The twist is, of course, that Indian food replaces Spanish.

Whether you're popping out for lunch or heading off for a night out at one of Edinburgh's many attractions, the Café is an affordable and tasty option.

Eating out with your partner, family or friends is a pleasant occasion and the Menu at the Café is aimed at encouraging just that, with tapas the whole meal is a shared experience and the range of freshly prepared and tasty dishes on offer encourages people to try both favourites and something different.

Please join us soon and try out this "way of eating".

Mother India's Café - Glasgow

Mother India

Situated across from Kelvingrove Art Gallery in the West End of Glasgow, Mother India's Café offers a "twist on tapas".

The twist is, of course, that Indian food replaces Spanish.

Small portions from an extensive but freshly produced menu put into practice. Our belief in the concept of trying a little and tasting a lot.

The initial experiment has been so well received that Mother India's Café has become one of the most popular Restaurants in Glasgow.

Casual dining is the name of the game at the Café and both Asif and his front of house staff, along with the dedicated team in the Kitchen, work hard to create both the informal atmosphere and mouth watering dishes for the most important part of our business....You.

Mother India

Mother India

Opened in the West End of Glasgow in 1996 Mother India has established itself as an ongoing favourite with Glasgow's discerning diners.

Voted:
"Best restaurant of the year 2010" & "Best non-european restaurant 2010"

We have 3 floors each of which has its own distinctive ambience.

The ground floor is the smallest and cosiest, with its own bar and street view. It's perfect for those who like to watch the world go by whilst enjoying their meal.

Move upstairs and you enter a different environment, almost Dickensian with its emphasis on rich wood panelling and views through the leaded square windows.

Downstairs we have most recently added the Cellar. With a quieter, theatre lit feel it's aimed at those who love a sense of privacy and intimacy.

Above all, however, Mother India is aimed at satisfying you. Our staff will endeavour to ensure that you relax and enjoy your experience whilst our team in the kitchens will do their utmost to provide you with the freshest, most wholesome Indian dishes we can create.

We all look forward to seeing you soon.
